2- Brief history
The ELECTRAVIA - E-PROPS team is known for its electric motorizations systems developed for leisure aviation (engines, controllers, dedicated instruments, batteries BMS, special propellers),
as well as for aircraft equipped with these new successful and silent propulsion systems made between 2008 and 2014.
During 6 years,
more than 70 aircraft with electric engines have been developed by the team, including the famous ELECTRA (1rst worldwide 100% electric aircraft, 1rst flight in December 2007),
the CRI-CRI Cristaline (1rst worldwide electric twin-engines, world speed record for electric aircraft from 2010 to 2018), the E-FENIX (1rst worldwide electric two-seater paratrike),
the E-SPIDER (1rst worldwide electric two-seater paramotor), the ELECTRO-LIGHT (electric motoglider range 1h30)...
The ELECTRAVIA engineers have developed controllers and batteries BMS, have integrated engines and adapted airframes of different aircraft.
As they didn't find specific propellers for electric engines on the market, they also have designed, tested and manufactured propellers specially adapted to
this type of engines.
From 2014, the company has suspended its electric motorisation activities, pending the availability of batteries with greater autonomy and a recharging time more
suited to aeronautical use. The E-PROPS team now focuses solely on the design and manufacture of its propellers.
Today, this great expertise combined with the means implemented to produce carbon propellers allows E-PROPS to participate in many innovative aircraft projects,
as a supplier of ultra-light and extremely efficient mechanical propulsion solutions.
E-PROPS, a major global player in the aircraft carbon propeller sector, is involved in many innovative drones projects.
3- Team
The family-owned company has been created in 2008 by 3 aviation enthusiasts and pilots.
Today, the E-PROPS team is composed of
53 aeronautical engineers and technicians :
- 29 in the workshops
- 18 at design department
- 6 for commercial / management
A great team of engineers and technicians, all competent and passionate.
4- Workshops
E-PROPS's headquarters, research office and workshops are located on Sisteron airfield (LFNS), Provence, France.
The industrial area has an access to the 1000 m runway.
Ultra-modern 7200 m² workshops:
- Different and dedicated workshops: propellers workshops, prototyping, mechanics, electronics for a production capacity of 75000 blades / year
- 35 machining CNC centres, including an innovative 8-axis centre with laser scanner to analyze blades and hubs
- a high-temperature furnace and forming dies for Titanium leading edge protection
- ovens high & medium temperatures / small & big capacity
- Lathes and conventional milling machines
- Welding systems
- Offices and meeting rooms
Manufacturing :
E-PROPS ensures the production monitoring by RFID and KANBAN method.
These methods and tools optimize the manufacturing quality, reassure and fluidify the supplies, allow the real-time follow-up of the production process,
the traceability of all the manufacturing steps, and offer a set of successful and reliable indicators.
Quality system : PART 21G level - All propellers for drones are ASTM F2506-13 certified.
Testing :
- A fatigue tests bench, to stress the blade with alternating bending, to reproduce the engine's torque, and to establish the real propellers' potential
- A traction tests bench : 40 tonnes hydraulic cylinder. High : 3,5 m. Weight : 300 kg
- Other tests benchs, for many different mechanical tests.
... all what is necessary for conception, tests, manufacturing and marketing of the innovative E-Props propellers
